“God’s Promise of Social Justice”
In the politics of our day, we often hear about “social justice.” What does that term mean? How are politicians able to produce “social justice”? Are they promising pay back to those who have exercised power and authority “unjustly”? If so, they are promising revenge and injustice to another group of people.
I. Justice That Promotes Peace –
A. Righteousness and justice are dependent on one another –
1. God Himself is the standard of righteousness –
2. He will judge the world according to righteousness –
3. The living God rules in righteousness –
Can political leaders who are defiant against God’s righteous law bring about “social justice”? Do they seek the mind of God acknowledging His authority over them? If not, then they see themselves as the standard of “justice.”
B. Righteousness is revealed in the gospel alone! –
1. Righteousness and peace kiss at the cross of Jesus Christ –
2. The desire for true “social justice” requires a revival of faith in Jesus Christ
3. He will bring justice to the poor –
II. Peace Comes When the Righteous Prosper –
A. A godless ruler is like a beating rain that devastates crops –
1. Don’t place your expectations in political elites –
2. Such elites are lighter than vapor –
3. Politicians exploit the envious –
4. “From each according to their abilities – to each according to their needs” Karl Marx. Socialism is fueled by greed.
5. Solomon warns us – do not believe that pooling money results in justice –
6. The siren song of socialism has resulted in death and misery – most recently Venezuela. But in the 20th century, Soviet socialism 20 million, China 65 million, German National Socialist, 70 million. not to mention North Korea, Cuba, Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam
B. Only in the Messiah will righteousness and economic prosperity bless the people –
III. Genuine One-Global Government –
A. Christ shall reign over all the earth –
1. Kings will bring presents to the King of Kings –
2. This is fulfilled at Jesus’ birth – ,
B. Jesus promised such justice and peace –
1. Jesus Christ will spare the poor and needy –
2. Where the gospel flourishes, there is prosperity –
Let us worship King Jesus!!
